Frisbie Memorial Hospital announced that its Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine is being recognized for the eighth consecutive year as a Center of Distinction for achieving outstanding clinical outcomes for calendar year 2019.

“We are very proud of our accomplishments since opening the wound center in 2011. Our patients overwhelmingly state that they would recommend our services to a friend or family member, which is the highest compliment we could receive. One of the pleasures of working in the wound center is interacting with all of our wonderful patients,” said Patty Rupp Hodge, MD, CWSP, Medical Director of the wound center.

The complex nature of wounds requires a multidisciplinary-based program for effective wound care management. Frisbie's wound care team uses the combined knowledge of medical professionals with expertise in the areas of general and vascular surgery, infectious disease, emergency medicine, and podiatry to develop comprehensive care plans for patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, wound infections and other chronic wounds.

Frisbie's Wound Care Center uses advanced techniques, including total contact casting (offloading), bio-engineered dermal substitutes, specialized dressings, growth factor therapies, and state-of-the-art hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which stimulates new tissue generation, helping to eliminate infection and accelerate the healing process.
