Expert pulmonologists in Greater Rochester

The pulmonary physicians at Frisbie Memorial Hospital are committed to providing patients with advanced treatments to improve breathing and other respiratory conditions.

Our pulmonary team offers diagnoses and treatment options for a variety of pulmonary conditions—including asthma, bronchitis, emphysema and pneumonia.

Comprehensive pulmonary care

Our pulmonologists specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, conditions and abnormalities of the lungs and cardiopulmonary system. Although many respiratory conditions can be treated by a primary care physician, advanced pulmonary concerns should be treated by a pulmonologist.

The advanced pulmonary team our hospital consists of highly trained pulmonologists, respiratory therapists, surgeons and nurses. In addition to offering diagnostic testing and the latest available treatments, we also offer smoking cessation classes and education on how to prevent and treat symptoms of respiratory illnesses.

Pulmonary conditions we treat

Our pulmonologists and respiratory care therapists treat a variety of breathing and other pulmonary disorders, including:

  • Asthma
  • Bronchitis
  • Chronic cough
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Emphysema
  • Occupational lung diseases
  • Pneumonia
  • Sinusitis

Lung cancer

The pulmonologists at Frisbie Memorial Hospital also work hand-in-hand with our chest center to diagnose and treat patients with lung cancer.

The chest center provides access to a wide range of medical specialists in one place. Through this collaborative approach, we are able to accurately diagnose and provide advanced treatment options for patients with a lung cancer diagnosis.

Advanced diagnostic technology

Our pulmonologists use advanced diagnostic imaging, notably endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), to provide the most accurate diagnosis for patients. An EBUS is an imaging procedure that uses ultrasound technology to show real time imaging that allows physicians to obtain samples from the lungs and surrounding tissues.

This imaging technique also offers many benefits to patients, including:

  • Higher image quality
  • Increased accuracy
  • Minimal invasion
  • No large incisions
  • Reduction in recovery time
  • Same day discharge

Pulmonary-related sleep disorders

Our pulmonary team also treats patients experiencing sleep disorders that may be related to pulmonary conditions. Our sleep center is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and offers diagnostic testing and treatments to treat a wide range of sleep disorders, including insomnia to narcolepsy.

While our patients are typically referred to us by their primary care physician, patients may contact us directly for an appointment.

Patients can contact the sleep center by calling (603) 994-0013.
